Cassava is a root crop widely cultivated in many tropical regions of the world. It is valued for its unique characteristics and benefits as a food crop.
EDENGY cultivates cassava in the Guinean Forest Region, specifically in the Nzérékoré region, and plans to expand into Upper Guinea, in the Faranah region. Our plantations cover approximately 5,000 hectares, with harvests being partly allocated to local farmers and partly used in our cassava processing units, located near our plantations.
EDENGY has established cooperation agreements with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of the Republic of Guinea to promote local employment for women and youth. Furthermore, we closely collaborate with rural communities through shared governance of cooperatives responsible for crop management.
Calorie Source: Cassava is rich in carbohydrates, making it an important source of calories in regions where food security is a challenge, especially in areas where other cereal crops do not thrive easily.
Gluten-Free: Cassava is naturally gluten-free, making it an interesting alternative for individuals with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.
Versatile Culinary Uses: Various forms of cassava preparation allow for the creation of a variety of dishes and food products, ranging from snacks to main meals and desserts.
Improved Food Security: Due to its ability to grow in challenging conditions, cassava can contribute to improving food security in regions where other crops might fail due to adverse environmental conditions.
Industrial Uses: In addition to its food uses, cassava can also be processed into industrial products such as cassava starch, which is used in the food industry and various other industrial sectors (pharmaceuticals, paint, paper, etc.).
